This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
To change the pivot point, hit insert (or home on mac) and move the manipulator around. You can snap it to the grid by holding down x... I feel like I just answered this.
I only recently learnt thru a tutorial here that you can snap anything selected (pivot point Inc) By holding the V key and then using the middle mouse button click/drag on a vertex. This has improved/eased my work a great deal.
And to add to that, without going anywhere near the insert key, just hold d, x and MMB on the origin. Bam! Done. Or with vertices, hold d, v and MMB, like you said.
