3d fluids and such

Hey folks, got yet another question.

I want to learn some different things in maya fluids..

Anyone have any resources for...

Heat ripple exhaust effect for maya..

like the clear exhaust that distorts the background yet is clear?

also.. I think this is particles instead..

but how to leave tire tracks?

A good tutorial showing how to do fluids for a tire burnout via.. motorcycle.. car... etc

my furthest feat with this is smoke like a ciggarette but am looking for more information to get me pass that mark..

anyone have any resources?

I wonder if the heat ripple wouldn't be easier and faster in post, since it's basically just a distortion of the animation.

Probably, you could use some particles to use as the displacment.

I also think that you would not use fluids or particles for tyre marks, textures or transparant mapped geo.

i tried using particles and setting them up for displacement using red and green ramp. but it doesnt work right when using after effects

only part of it displaces and say.. the rest appear in color as a crescent moon >.>
