Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Best way for water

I want to make a scene in which water drops off letters, like a continuous waterfall. I have no intention to animate it, so I think there must be an easy way. I remember a tutorial where a dude made a water shader with kinda like. 20 nodes. And after 2 hours it had rendered a square centimeter on high-q.

Which is the best way to make static water? With low rendering time...

Thanks in advance!

You could try nparticals, as its a still shot you could create a large container over your river bed(river bed mesh create passive collider), when you start the animation you would have a large volume of water comming down the river bed. You would need to play with the partical size, liquide simulation and dynamic, then convert to poligon and play with the npartical output mesh properties.........hope that make sence.....dave

ps:change the shader to mr meterial mai water

I'm sorry, but I'm kinda a newbie! The only thing I've ever made in maya that is decent is an escher like stairs composition with AO texture.

If your that new to maya best to model the water, select the river bed faces then duplicate face, tool bridge the top part of your duplicate face then at the ends use tool fill hole(you should clean up the mesh at this point). Last assigne metalray shader mai meterials pre set water..........dave
