Is this a Mental Ray render again? How have you brought it back to Maya...i.e...how many levels/polys was it in Z, and what level have you brought it back to Maya at? Normal/Displacement on top?

It makes all the difference that youve gone to the effort of sculpting two seperate pieces of geo, rather than just one and cutting into it to reveal the under surfaces. I like it.

Thats actully a ZB BPR render. I can go as high as 7 levels with my machine on most meshes. mesh back in maya is just a Dis map with color map that had Cavity and AO maps over it.

The wire frame a few post up is what came back into maya and i just added a smooth.

This is a older Dis map from the other day have not updated it from todays work, but gives ya a idea whats going on back in maya right now....
