Walk cycles: motion paths, mirroring, hiding parts, and copying position values
I'm using Maya 2012 x64. I know how to create a motion path, but I can't figure out how to delete the motion path without deleting the keys. How do you get rid of an editable motion curve once you've created it?
How do you copy and paste multiple values between objects? When I duplicate values from the channel editor, then paste them to the new attribute, it pastes every single key I've made so far. I don't want that, I do want it to copy just the particular attributes I've highlighted and paste them into the corresponding channel editor fields.
How can I mirror copy the same motion path for the other half of the body? I'm trying to create a walk cycle, so I want the two halves to be exactly the same. They can't be exactly the same in the motion path though, because the joints on the other side have different rotation attributes. So how can I flip a motion path?
I'm using the Andy rig. Is there a way to hide parts? I've been reading on different animation blogs that they hide parts to focus on others, like hiding the legs, animating the hips on up, then showing the legs.
I want to animate the walk in place, then make it move in world space. What is the best way to do this? Should I just take the highest controller in the hierarchy and move it every time the foot picks up? I've been told that I could animate the walk cycle in place, then use cone markers at regular intervals to make sure the strides are of equal length.
Another thing I'm running into is that I can't adjust the tangent weights in the graph editor, which might be a part of the graph editor bugs ongoing, or it could be an Andy rig problem. https://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost...89&postcount=2
