subD to poly problem

i'm sure there's an answer for this some 200 pages back but i cant find it and i fogot how to do it as time has gone by but how do i fix this?user added image

Im not used to using subD but it looks like you have two meshes there that are combined, try selecting faces click on one then press shift&> to enlarge the selection will need to do this a number of time to get one of the meshes, then press extract to seperate.............dave

well what happened was i converted from poly to subD and then hit undo and this happened. its acting as 1 object.
