Bump and Specular not working and getting some wierd color.

So, I'm attempting to add a bump and secular to my monster. I'm using a rock surface as the texture, but when I render everything still looks smooth. Also when I do the specular I'm trying to get rid of some of the reflectiveness of the skin and make the claws shiny, but that doesn't seem to be working also. There is also some weird coloration that you can see in the pic that looks like stretch marks.

the scratches will probably be the reflection of something.

The stretch marks look like reflections to me. What is your reflection level set to on you material? I cannot tell looking at the screen grab, is you spec map < 50% and just the nails ramped up > 50% to be shiny? But yes, I see the bump and spec does not seem to be getting applied.

oh sorry. look at the material you have applied. if you double click it you will see its properties. One of those will be reflectivity.

Your spec map is not dark enough,in photo shop go to image/adjustment/level, I think you need a finer texture on the body for the bump map...........dave

I've noticed I have the same problem on a different model. Someone was working on a pair of blue jeans for another character. When they rendered out the jeans looked great. When I copied over the the psd and linked it to my model and rendered the jeans came out gray like the bump map was just a color channel. Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing?

Try converting your psd to jpeg, there should be a 2D bump node attached to you file texture node you can change the bump depth in there and should be set to (use as:bump)...........dave
