Paint weight tool

Hi Im trying to animate a piece of cardboard opening.

I have a few joints on a polygon surface opening above and below - a kind of book.

The problem is getting the joints to work only on specific faces, there seems to be alot of blurred overlap.

Can someone point out how to be more specific with the painting.

For anyone interested it seems you have to draw your joints when the model is already stretched out. Makes for easier weighting then.
