Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

SOPA

Not sure if many of you have heard about this absolutely ridiculous law trying to be passed here in the US called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) but it is absolutely terrible. Sites like SM would have the potential to be banned from accessing by the government just because we talk about the work done by companies like dare I even say the Name (Disney) Anyways I don't want to get into major details about the law but I thought I should share a funny little thing that happened just recently.

GoDaddy.com is a huge domain hosting service at least here in the US and anyways Yesterday they said...
"We STAND firm in our support for SOPA, and while we have recieved numerous emails we have seen no negative effects from the boycott"

Need I say Challenge Accepted user added image
As we've been called by our supreme court "Nerds" (Seriously they said Nerds here https://www.geekosystem.com/sopa-hearing/ )

"Nerds Unite"

Well as of today every min for about the past 24hrs read GoDaddy.com's Twitter account https://twitter.com/#!/GoDaddy

I already left godaddy when the CEO shot an elephant....

I study computer science so everyone has been up in arms, a few of us were talking about what would happen if it did pass, most people seemed to think there would be an uproar and that they just wouldn't be able to get away with it but I really don't think the general public knows what's going on or would really understand it if they did....

I know its absolutely ridiculous. The law is designed to let big name companies trample small start-ups ensuring the rich get richer and everyone else poorer. If this thing does pass I imagine there will be some kind of revolt or we will be doomed to an even more under-educated oppressed world naive of problems in other countries and eventually forced into a world of direct government involvement of every aspect of human life. Kinda reminds me of the book "1985" with "Big Brother" or "Fahrenheit 451"

If it passes people can piss and moan to their hearts content. Once government gets a law in place they could care less what "the little people" think. Just prey it does not pass!

typical of these politician types. as soon as they see just one person misuse something they want to ban it from everyone and punish the people on the wrong side of things.

that's why playgrounds are super dumbed down (because kids fall off, so now they are punished), dogs have to be tagged (because some dogs attacked kids, although it should be the owners really), and why politicians wanted to ban water (because more people die from that than car crashes each year)

but on a more related note, a typical argument is having those anti-piracy ads on legit dvds and blu rays which ironically uses pirated music (so i'm told).

the world is run by morons for a reason. it's so all the morons of the world feel like they belong here. the same way writers try to create characters that people can relate to.

@#*& SOPA censoring. What about people who upload their weddings and other stuff that requires music? Can't have a wedding without music, but can't share your information because of the music. -_-

They may not put 90% of the world behind bars (can't get a jail that big), but they can leave 90% of the world homeless => more money for the government. -_-
I wonder if I ever used Megauploads for downloading anything. If I remember right, they had something asking for registration and I refused. But I did follow links sent from friends to download songs from some websites. I even own a filesharing hub (that hosts nothing on the server though, users are responsible for what they share). And I use BitLord... O_o good thing this house isn't on my name so they can't take it LOL!!! What will they take from me? I own nothing.

they can still take years of your life.

in any case, i don't know where this 90% came from.

Not like that would matter to me. I'd go there with no objection as long as I know nobody else I know will lose anything.

Well, seeing as the world's getting poorer, the number of people that have downloaded at least ONE mp3 in their lives is most probably increasing. That 90% is just an estimation. How many people in this world have bought only legit programs / music / movies and hasn't downloaded anything copyrighted? How many of those didn't share the stuff they have bought with friends (for free)?

Makes me wonder if even copyright holders / artists download stuff for free from time to time... even with all their money. (well, that Justin Bieber case is one thing, but I meant those other artists).
