Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Maya Plugins

I am thinking about getting the realflow plugin to use with maya because from what i can tell maya's default water simulation is only really good for major standing water bodies, but not for smaller things like pouring, dripping, melting, etc. thoughts? Also any other plugins that i should look at for better effects?

If you can afford RealFlow, go for it. But it isn't necessary to get some nice looking water effects. nParticles can do a nice job as well.

See: https://area.autodesk.com/blogs/dunca...ith_nparticles

To make it look better, increase the number of particles, decrease their radii, and play with the meshing settings.

nParticles should be able to do that. Use the water preset, and raise the viscosity attribute.

Adding the "Peak deformer" from the SOUP plugins will increase the realism as well. https://www.soup-dev.com/examples.html

The peak deformer? No, you need to install a separate plugin called SOUP.
