This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Inset Tool

Hey all,

I'm used to using 3ds max and have noticed Maya doesn't have an inset tool.

I've tried using the extrude tool instead but this doesn't seem to work.

Sorry about the lack of info hope this is enough.

Say you've got a cylinder and you want to add a another ring around the bottom face just a little smaller. Inset tool can do this. Sorry if this isn't helpful

Not sure if that's what I'm looking for. Say I created a cylinder with 3 cap divisions it would have 3 rings ... That's what I need but I've already created the cylinder (with 6 sides to make a hexagon). Sorry for confusion.

Maya's extrude + offset is the same as Max's inset command. I have use both Maya and Max.
