Well, I've finally managed to get this one put to bed. My first attempt at serious modeling in Maya. There's still much to be done - detail around the cockpit, build the cockpit interior, build and assign proper materials, etc. but for now I'm putting this one to bed.
Currently stands at just over 250k polygons (smoothed) - not all quads - there's a few nGons in there, but they're relegated to bits you can't really see.
Just clay renders for now since I've still yet to learn how to texture, light and render properly in Maya.
Nice detail, most people who do this kind of subject seem to use straight poly modeling (un-smoothed), you got all that nice kit bashed look with smoothed polygons. excellent.
Good work. I've been away to long, Haven't seen anyone do my old tutorial before. I say you did a great job with it, and actually did ti faster then i did the initial model
Thanks guys. Like I said, I have much more I want to do with this one, but for now I'm attempting the Apache ... not so much for the modeling side but more for the texturing, lighting and animation. Once I have a handle on that I reckon I can come back to this and get surfacing.....
Cheers bullet. T'was a fun little project but definitely time to take a break from it for a while. Currently Mass Effect 3 is taking up far toooo much of my time anyway
LOL that game seems bloody popular...which is why I didnt buy it....thats an RPG too...which bore me to death. I have some textures for the Tie fighter somewhere...I will see if I can dig one up.
cheers bullet
