This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
Hey, i am having troubles looping a run cycle for an animation, the current character moves forward in the cycle. Ive tried everything that I can find, from copying and pasting keys in the dope sheet and graph editor. every time i copy the frames the character messes up and his limbs go everywhere. I was wondering if its because I've actually made him move forward in the animation rather than putting him in a status position and moving it after?
You gotta create a key for all elements of the character even the one that don't move. So basically on every pose, select the whole character and press S.
But it is better idea to create the run cycle in a stationary position as you mentioned. You can get a way better cycle that way that you can adjust easily and re-use in different scenes. It will also look better cause you're dealing with only limited no. of frames and may tweek it till perfection. Make sure to use a floor-grid when creating the cycle to avoid the moonwalk/feet-sliding effect.
