Gonna learn to use a mouse with my feet:(

Been to the specialist this week & it's official, no using the mouse for more than 5 mins without a 30 min break. Got joint & bone probs in both wrists & that's basically screwed up any 3D or gaming from now on.
He reckons even using a tablet will aggravate ituser added image
Driving is becoming a prob too, dunno where that leaves me with workuser added image

But on the bright side, i learned to write with my right when my left was out of commission after my op, so learning to use my foot & toes should be fun!!

Man I'm sorry to here that

user added image user added image user added image

so how about operations to recover it, or may be cortizon shots to ease the pain and help the condition, I'm not sure what u have but mom used to have somethinlg lie the curpel tunnel syndrome and they gave her two cortizon shots and she was fine again-thank god-

and I've seen many new mice, like the joystick type I guess this one could be easier to use....

run a search there are many new devices that I'm sure will be helpful;, again I'm sorry for that, hope it'll be better and medicine discovers new things every day, -I'm not just saying that but I've seen and been worse and all went good-

Hope to see more of ur good work soon

Had the shots before two ops, but all failed. It was 2 busted wrists years ago, now arthritis, cartilege & fused bones are there to stay.
Tried a variety of different mice & trackballs in the local PC superstore, with no luck, because it's the flexing of the tendons that causes the pain & seizing.

Thankfully, in other 'male' areas, i'm marrieduser added image

still u've got voice activation, with s/w like dragon naturally speaking, u can do wonders, and check the joystick type mouse it's a 3m product called renaissance or something like that www.3m.com <--- not an advertisement user added image

and loads of other solutions, how about touch screens or light pens.

man I'm sure it's gonna be OK just have loads of faith, and don't give up, I know it sounds lame but believe me it works, and if you are relegious GOD likes us to remember HIM in such situations...

take care I'm sure u'll get out of it stronger and more resourcful

Dragon can do that??!!??
Never knew that, so i'll check it out.

Can't use anything that requires handholding, like pens, joysticks etc.
btw, the doc reckons resting for a couple of weeks will allow me an hour or so usage.

Thanksuser added image

If something ever happend to my wrists that caused me not to be able to be able to grip things.. i dont know what i would do. first i would be really really depressed and just sit down and watch tv all day. then i would go to tons and tons of different doctors that specialize in that sorta stuff untill one told me they can help me.

Same here (except my avitar is a little less 'satanic' user added image and now that school's back my hours of clicking are a little more limited). I'll also pray for you Kreed.

Hey kreed, i did some searching on the web because i really wouldnt like to see ya having to go away from the mouse. If you can hold the mouse (or duct tape it to your hand) and click it then i found this mouse made by "gyration" called the "ultra cordless optical mouse". It writes in the air, you dont need to hold it on the table, and you could use your upper arm to move the mouse instead of the wrist. I dont know if this helps but it could be an attempt. Also, keep in mind that technology is increasing rapidly over time and there will be a cure for what you have some time in the near future, hopefully. And more stuff like this mouse will be coming out every month user added image. Ok, hope you find something that works

Thanks for your thoughts guys. *sniff* Very kind of you.

z1mmnd14 & Darkware,

it's not RSI or anything, it's from an old 5 a side football accident years ago when both wrists were broken.
So keep clickinguser added image

thanks for the heads up on the cordless mouse. I'll check it out.
