This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Vid Card ideas

Hey all,

Right now I'm working with a:
AMD Phenom 1090T black edition 6 core processor,
ATI HD 5770 vid card,
4 gb AMD OCZ Black Edition memory (2 x 2gb)
and
an ASUS m4a89GTD PRO usb3 board.

all the rest isn't important.

I'm curious what would be a great video card for the higher end computer animation work in MAYA?

I've read alot, but thought I'd put it out here to see what the consensus was.

I always have a lot in mind, but just curious. Right now I'm in school, so it's not horribly important to get one right now, but I wanted to know if the HD 5770 will be good as I get into the composite work later in my class schedule.

Well, in that case, the 5770 will be good for a while, since it's a fairly modern card.

If you were to upgrade though, I'd recommend a 2gb EVGA 660 to replace it. Super solid card, plus all the nVidia benefits (CUDA/other stuff that I can't think of at the moment)
