How to center imported obj?

How to center imported obj?

I have a dxf model that when I import is very large and off the grid.

I have scaled it down and freeze transforms, but I cannot figure out how to get the object to move to center of the standard grid space.

I have gone days looking online, used locator, grouped it to itself, but I am doing something wrong here, clearly.

I am not sure I am reading this right but have you tried selecting the object and centering the pivot and then snapping the pivot to the center of the grid.

I tried this method, but I can't see the grid.

I center pivot, select move tool, hold x, and object moves in a grid like manner, but the actual center grid is out of sight.

I would center my view on the grid (Little house next to the view cube), select the object in the outliner (Window->Outliner), center pivot and then move it to the origin with x+MMB or use the absolute transform tool to move it to 0,0,0

great, thanks for posting snapshot.

I had grid set to 'hide all grids' by mistake.

Also had to remember to select move tool before using x to snap.

Simple mistake, but ruined my day. Thanks I will be using your method from now on.

That little house icon is useful after all.
