Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Mirror question

I'm working on an airliner and trying to duplicate the cylinder I made for the main body. When I duplicate it, it looks horrible. I either turn up or down the threshold and it looks even worse, I have to increase it to make the edges come together. I'm in smooth preview and am converting it when I get it where I need it but I'm not sure how to get it where I need it..lol. Here's two snips of it apart and one together.

Did you make sure that the vertices on the border edge and pivot point are on the same x plane?

I have no clue on how to do that. I tried to delete some of the verts and edges and it just made it worse. I just made another body for it, do over I suppose. Still a work in progress.

Do you still have a version of your scene file before the mirror? If so, do you mind uploading it so we can have a look?

Yes tolerance will solve your problem as dave said.........or you can alternatively turn tolerance completely it to zero value. Once mesh is mirrored, you can use merge vertex option to manually merge the border vertices (don't go on one by one, select it in groups and it'll do fine)

Thanks all, like I said I just remade the body out of one cylinder. But, for next time I will turn the tolerance down. Thank you.
