Here is what Jay uses! The bad news is it has 19,000 vacuum tubes. The good news is you don't need a space heater.

I apologize I could not resist. (smile)

Your question is very general. Rendering is going to be throttled by cpu and memory and disk speed and your budget.

We really need to know your budget and the complexity of the scenes you want to render in order to make an informed suggestion.

I may be old but am sturdy and will kick any of the young whipper snapper wannabe modelers into touch. Just ask Dave he has been in my intimidating presence on more than one occasion, just dont bring up Prague LOL

Yeah that machine only has 512 ram, works great LOL

Hey dave,
Thanks for the recommendation.

Wel i hv got a pretty handsome budget, cos til date i hv been struggling with a very bad configuration i.e, 4gigs ram and an intel core2duo 2.4 ghz with just 512 mb frx ati radeon card..
It is very slow and sluggish..

So..now i want to make a big invest and make dramatic changes i my work speed and efficiency.

About your recommendations,
Well..looks quite fancy..m surely gona consider them,
But can you people please tel me if i cn go for a macintosh..

Other than doing maya,i work some sound stuff too, logic and some other softwares..
So..i am quiet confused.
Any mac recommendation?

Or any comments on mac vs windows for me?

Basically mac will prolly give you more stability in terms of viruses and worrying about bad hardware conflicts as everything that goes into a mac is more tightly controlled. But you will pay more for apps and have a lot less flexibility then you het with a pc.

In the end it's personal choice because there are going to be people that would fight to the death arguing one is better then the other.

I do not think you are going to find a mac configuration that can compete with the dual 16 core xeon socket 2011 board that Dave has suggested though and a pocket calculator would be better then the system you have now.
