rendering TGA file to .avi?

does anyone know if this can be done with composite 2013 that comes with maya? i've never used composite before, so i have no idea on how to render a sequence of images from targa to avi. i thought this would be easy, but it looks like you have to take so many steps to achieve this in composite. can anyone instruct me please? thanks!

You can do this very easily with a program called VirtualDub.
