Ways to animate a character

hi guys, do i just press (s) and animate a character, or theres other ways to do that??user added imageuser added image

What are you animating is it some thing simple then yes if you are doing stuff like walking then you would use keying and the hypergrath to repeat said keying.............dave

I think the only way to really get an answer to this is to watch some tutorials. Then you'll get an idea of how people actually animate.
