Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Help with animating face

I though I will need a lot of help with this little project of mine, so I'll post everything here, in one threat.
And I hope you guys caan help me :}
Hello,
I created this face, now trying to animate it, started with eye lids.
I painted eye animation, it works fine with "joins", when I rotate joins eye appears to blink.
Problem is, when I move head join, those joins are also effected in strange way.
Points around eye lids are only controlled by eye "upper/lower" lid joins according "Component editor".
Picture explains better, now head join is rottated in Y axis and eye lids deforms while they should stay in place.
What should I do ?
Ps its first time I ever working with this in Maya.
Thank you.

It sounds like you have weighted those vertices to nothing. You need to keep each vertex weighted to something, even if you don't want it to deform; as if it's weighted to nothing, how does it know what it's supposed to follow?

Therefore, weight the offending vertices to your main head joint, and you should be fine.

Hmm, nope all points are weighted to some joins, this left eye joins are weighted to "upper/lower" eye lids and all rest to head join for now.
Affected points, are only those...
Ok just founded the problem. Somehow some verticals were weighted to "eye join: itself, so when I moved "head join", "eye join" moved as well, together with those eye lid vertex points.

To check this I just selected all votex points of geometry and went to component editor.
In there I saw that some face vortex points were linked to wrong joins.
Thanks for help.
Ps, I think it is some Maya bug or wrong settings selected when attaching joins to geometry.
I heard about it in tutorial.

It's not a bug. We're you using "hold weights"? If you weren't, then there's your problem :p

So, now I did animation of one eye lid blinking,
How to duplicate it to other side, and assign to different joins?
(I have eye joins right/left upper/lower)
