Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Physical Sky

Hi guys,

first time posting in the forum !

I'm still pretty new to the physical sky attributes and connections .

May i know how do i connect the mia exposure photographic node to my mia physical sky connection nodes ?
When I middle mouse button drop the photographic node to the physical sky connection, it pops out the connection editor, but im not sure which connection is actually the correct one for it.

Can anyone kindly explain and help me out here ?

Thanks!

Cheers,

Hmm as far as I know mia_photographic node is meant to connect to a camera.

So open up camera attributes and under mental ray section plug that in Lens shader using middle mouse button.

zestken is correct. The exposure node is a lens shader. It doesn't make sense to put an exposure only on the sky.

You will need to execute a mel script to connect the exposure_photographic to the physicalsky node:
connectAttr -f mia_exposure_photographic1.message mia_physicalsky1.miSkyExposure;
If you have Maya2013 then you can use the node editor to connect the "Message" of the photographic node to "MI Sky Exposure". For the cameras you can just MMB drag and drop the node on the lens shader slot under the mental ray tab.

I found that I had to push the cm2 factor to about 5000 to get the exposure photographic node to obey the sunny f16 rule.
