Scaling and aligning

Hi people,

I'm wondering if it possible during the scaling procedure to align the length of an object to another object like in the picture below. I know that I can mark the vertex and align them, but just wondering if there would be a way during scaling the object.

It can be done if you moved your pivot to the opposite end (-x) then scaled only in the x direction but to be accurate you would have to enter the length in the channel box, to be honest the quickest way would simply be to enter component mode ans select the vertices and snap then using the v key and Middle Mouse Button to the end of the second object.
