Help capping Curve drawing

Hi All, I am an absolute NEWB with MAYA. In fact just downloaded it yesterday.

and was able to extrude it to this

I have tried the bevel tool but end up with some weird stuff. I can't figure out how to cap to have skin on both the top and bottom. I assumed the bevel tool would do the job but even with selecting the cap, it doesn't give me the desired results. Any help would be much appreciated.user added image

You are going to have to break that up into pieces with a discreet outer edge and inner holes and then you can use bevelplus. Then combine the separate parts into a single object.

Darn I suspected as much. Thanks.
