Complex UV Layout in Maya

missing face

how would i go about filling in this missing face? i tried to use the fill hole tool but had no success.

It's kinda hard to see what's going on in that screenshot. Can you post just default shader with wireframe? You could try the bridge tool. How many edges border the hole?

Make sure your normals are pointing out on all objects

The geometry does look kind of messy. Are those two diagonal lines necessary? They look out of place. I would start by selecting two edges across from each other and using the bridge tool. Keep working your way around the hole, bridging edges to fill in the gap.
