viewport 2.0 selection highlighting -

apologies for posting this question again, but I'm certain someone here on this excellent forum user added image knows the answer -

viewport 2.0 selection highlighting - can I turn it off in any way? the checkbox is greyed out in the panel menu.... =\

As far as i know you can't. There are lots of things I'd like to customize when working with viewport 2.0, it's not quite there yet though. >.>

hmm, seems a strange feature to have forcibly 'enabled' - especially given the whole point of 2.0... still, there must be a reason. thanks anyway, at least now I know I'm not the only one scratching my head over this...
