airplane interior/exterior modeling

Hi,
I am relatively new to Maya, and would like some suggestions on how I would hollow out the interior of the airplane Ive been working on. Granted, I should have began with a polygon pipe from the beginning, I did not. I tried duplicating the body of the aircraft and just scaling it down, but realized I only made a solid cylinder inside another. The animation I am creating is a first-person perspective "tour" of this airplane, starting on the outside and moving into the airplane.....if only I had an inside. any suggestions would be appreciated! I have attached a screenshot of the model I am working with to show where I am at with this project.

Are you going to model the windows if so when you have done the windows using half of the plane select the faces of the tube and do a extrude inwards, you will have to delete some of the faces before you use the mirror tool............dave

Select the whole fuselage and do an extrude, then give a negative value for the thickness parameter. I think that should make a inward shell all through it. You may have to reverse the normals to get the inner faces facing inward. Sorry dave, don't know if I'm repeating what you said.

Good suggestion, strange outcome

I did try what you suggested, but once I extuded and set the thickness perameters, it turned into something that didnt even look like an airplane. I messed around with the sub-menu settigns for extrude with the same result. I even made sure to reverse the faces so they could be seen from the inside. Like I said, Im very new to modeling but I am determined to figure this out. Im hoping to show up for class tomorrow wth the airplane body hollowed out and ready to work on windows. Is there a simpler method to making this happen, or a newbie-proof method? user added image
