Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Maya running extremely extremely extremely slow

I have been trying to create and animate aircraft in Maya 2013. I created an F-22 with ~550 polygons. Every time I select it or move it or try and import a second or do anything at all the program freezes for at least 5 minutes. Everything is at default Maya 2013 settings I am NOT lacking in computing power on either machine. Any help on why Maya 2013 is running so slow with such simple objects is much appreciated.

On my laptop when Maya was freezing, I was underclocked at .77GHz and still only using 6% maximum on my CPU and maxing at 10% on my GPU.

On my desktop Maya is maxing out cpu usage.

I have 2 machines this is happening on.
Both are less than 2 months old and have no performance issues.

The first is my laptop.
ASUS Republic of gamers G750J.

Desktop Computer Specs:
AMD Custom Gaming Computer

Graphics Cards: 2 x ASUS HD7950 3GB running with crossfire enabled.
CPU: AMD FX-4350 Vishera Am3+ Quad core
RAM: Corsair Vengance 32GB DDR3 1600
MOBO: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ 990FX SATA 6Gb/s Gaming motherboard
