Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

RAM issue, what do you think?

I am planning to upgrade my ramm to 8gb. Here is my system specs. I have learned that my i5 support 1300 mhz rams only. so i will go for 1300 mhz. But i can't decide if i should cahange my current rams with 2x4gb or just add a single 4gb 1300 mhz ram near them. what do you think? I am planning to wait until the ddr4 rams at the end of this year, and change my pc completely. So i have decided a 4gb upgrade is enough.

Would it be a problem if i attach a single 4gb 1300 mhz near 2x2gb 600mhz rams? or buy 2x4gb 1300 and remove the old ones...

I am a noob with pc configuration. So heres another question; what happens if i use current 2x2gb 600mhz rams + 2x4gb 1300 rams together. Can i duel in this way and have 12gb ram? user added image

ok your motherboard only supports 2-channel DIMMS so you can't simply add 1 exta dimm you need to add memory in pairs.

600mhz will run fine with 1300mhz in the board if it's just a cheap upgrade your looking for and your board has six slots for ram

2x2gb will give you an extra 4gb for the price of 45 USD not going to get a lot cheaper than that.

Dave

PS if you want you can also go 2x4gb https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231311 for 77 USD so i'd do this it's only a few bux more

Thanks for the info dave. I am still thinking for a system upgrade. I think i will go with my current display card untill the ddr4s come up and go for a complete change. Right now i am using gt 440 . A cheap card but i am not into rendering that much, modeling mostly. But i need 3 softwares running at the same time so it will be a good thing to get 2X4 gb i think. So can i just plug 2x4gb near my current rams and use 12gb ? Will 1300 rams work as 1300 with 600 rams plugged aside?

gskill has some cheap prices. But my current rams are corsair. Do you think that would cause problems in the future? If not i will go for a 2X4gb upgrade with a different brand.

A different brand of ram will be just fine. Also your gfx card will do nothing for you during rendering unless your using something like vray rt.

All the best
David
