GI JOE II

hi again, after installing GI Joe, i've made some experiences that i want to share with you guys!
In tha first image, i've used the the fault sky and ground lights plus the default baker shadows! I think that image is cool, simple but cool user added image ! In the second one, i've modifyed the cylinder and the inner shadow is wrong user added image , after this i've tryed to add a spotlight to fake sun light and add some extra shadows, but there are no shadows coming from that spotlight! How can i solve it?

THX in advance !!

If your spotlight's not casting shadows, the first thing I would check is that "use depth map shadows" is on in its attribute editor (or the channel box). BTW, Nice results with GI_Joe so far. Much better than I seem to get with it. You may also want to check out the thread below if you haven't seen it yet:

Oh englar, this is nice! I wish i could get GIjoe working, but it keeps saying it cant find the file in a directory that does not exist (e:/vga <--- and on and on. Oh and also, if im right thats the hulks eye... so have you seen that trailer for "the hulk" - the movie? I cannot wait!

Did you open the GI_Joe.mel and edit line 57 to look something like this

C:/Program Files/AliasWavefront/Maya4.5/scripts/GIJoe.lights

where you installed your files?user added image

Yep, wordpad will work although it might be easier with a text editor that shows line numbers such as EditPlus or even an html editor like homesite or dreamweaver.

The cool thing about EditPlus is that it makes scripting in Maya a bit easier. If you go to: https://www.editplus.com/others.html and just do a search for "maya" on the page you'll find a mel support zip file. This allows EditPlus to recognize the .mel suffix....not to mention on the left-hand side gives a maya attribute word list for scripting. When I first came across it, I authored a post in the mel forum and included a screenshot. Here's the link to the thread if ya want to see what it looks like:
