No 'Inputs' in my Channel Box/Layers Editor...

I was wanting to make some quick sub-divisions to a cube, but there was no 'Inputs' tab. I solved it by inserting Edge Loops, but still, how do I get it to appear?

'Seems I turned off History a while back for reasons that sounded good at the time. I toggled it back on and Inputs appeared. Then I made a 6x6x6 poly cube, deformed it a bit, but when I click on Inputs, nothing appears. I was expecting to be able to add more divisions.
