Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Do a UV projection on the mesh, planer mapping should be the best for this..............dave

I'm pretty confused, the texture in the first screen shot looks the same as low res texture on the plane in the second render.

Sorry for my late reply, but here is a other picture with the render and the texture, the render needs to be the same as the texture but it isn't.

What do the uvs of your plane look like? Its possible they aren't quite filling the 0 to 1 space. Actually, just counted the pixels and it looks more like the uvs are slightly offset from the texture.

How many UV sets do you have on that object?

Can you possibly zip up the scene (with the texture) and post it here?

Oh now I see. That is weird, the software render offsets the texture but Mental Ray does not user added image. The UVs are fine. I have no clue why it's doing that. I'd just use Mental Ray to be honest.

The same here. The software renderer offset the image no matter what settings I tried. I even went as far as creating a brand new scene with another 16x16 texture off the web and still the same result.
I'm curious to see if it is related to the texture size. We are so used to using big textures. Will try 32x32 and 64x64 tonight.

Edit: It looks like one looses about a pixel on the border regardless of size. It just becomes less noticeable.
