Rounding

Hi guys, i am new to Maya, i only started using it recently.

I created a model and used the hotkey '3' to round it. I'm sure i don't need to explain what this does.

whenever i export the model as an STL to use in Alias or showcase it only displays the original shapes, not the rounded ones i got from pressing 3.

Is there are way to save the shape you get when you round it, how do i work my way around this?

I will add some attachments to show you what i mean.

thanks in advance user added image

I agree with dave, although it depends what your smooth mesh preview (3) and mesh > smooth settings are; these could be different. The more accurate way is to go Modify > Convert... > Smooth Mesh Preview to Polygons.
