Vehicle model question.

I'm working on an older truck model and I chopped the roof to make it lower and I'm lost on how to either connect it to the lower part or do I extrude the lower half and make it one piece again. I've never used "append to polygon" before but is that what I'm looking for here? I want to join the two separate pieces without just "combining mesh".

It's edge heavy, I know this. It's for rendering reasons not a game and it's far from finished..

You do have to combine the meshes if you want to join them, I had some thing very similar to this on the ford truck I am doing in WIP all you can do is match up edges, add edges and merge...............dave
