Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

History of Duplicate Special

Hey Dear Maya Community,

Im from a Cinema4D/Houdini Background and using now Autodesk Maya in a Job.
I really like the beautiful interface of Maya and fall in love the the right-click PopUp-menu while modeling.

In Maya i can change for example the strength of my bevel of my ddges in the Poly Bevel Node afterwards.
Thats cool user added image Now I want to duplicate geometry with Duplicate Special and change the number of copies afterwards but there isnt a Duplicate Special Node in the Node Editor user added image

Im searching for a equivalence to the Cinema4D Cloner
https://youtu.be/2rWnJzf8O0w?t=1m

or to the Houdini Copy Node
https://youtu.be/UfRH42lHgEI?t=54s

Or is there a plugin for this task in Maya?
I thank you very much for you advice!

sincerely

In maya, duplicate special is not a node. I'm trying to think of a way to control the number of duplicates after the fact, but the only thing I'm coming up with off the top of my head is to use instanced particles. nParticles is a pretty powerful system, but it might be tricky to get it to perform, depending on what you want. The other thing you could look into is the Animation Snapshot.
