Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.
I am texturing a lego minifigure and I have a separate material for the face and the rest of the head. When I select the faces I want to put the face material on then drag the material on, those faces go black. When I render it looks fine but in the viewport it is black. This is also visible when I turn the textured view off.
