This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.
I am trying to convert a closed bezier curve I made with the Bezier Curve Tool (Create -> Curves -> Bezier Curve Tool) into a polygon so I can extrude it into a 3D shape. I have been looking around at a variety of threads to figure out how to do this, but I cannot find a way to do it. I know I will be working with ngons, which isn't a problem because I'm trying to make parts for a rendering scene. Does anyone have any experience doing this in Maya?
You can do a Surfaces > Planar (but the curve has to be exactly in one plane). And then Modify > Convert NURBS to Polygons [], and mess with the parameters. It won't give great geometry, but you say that shouldn't matter. There might be a more elegant way to achieve your desired mesh if you can share what you are trying to create.
