Best workflow for vehicle modelling in Maya

Hello,

I am new to vehicle modelling and am in my third year at university. studying Computer Animation and VFX. For my personal project I am modelling a vehicle in Maya and am unsure of the best workflow to use. I have read a lot about Nurbs modelling, box modelling and using spline cages. What would you say is the most efficient and effective method? Also which is the most common in the industry?

Thanks user added image

It all depends on your style, some people prefer box modelling, some Nurbs. I myself prefer a combination of both. So for say the side panels of the car create your curves and then loft, then when you are happy covert to poly. This IMPO give a greater flexibility with detailing the panels afterwards, like scoops etc.
