Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

finger tip / nail topology

Hello all,
i wasn't sure if topology was more of a rigging thing but anyway.

Does anyone have knowledge of the best way to model the tip of the finger with the finger nail. Basically if you were creating a photoreal human character which then needed to be rigged effectively, is it wiser to have a hole at the end of your finger and have the finger nail as a seperate piece of geo that slots into that space? or is it better to have the finger tip geo including the nail all as one object (though i presume for shaders this would be a problem)

if anyone knows the right way to go about doing this or could point me in the direction of a good finger tutorial, i would really appreciate it.

thanks,
Sam
