I bought the microsoft business(or pro) edition (the grey one), and it works great! Very nice feel on the hands and everything just "flows". If you got the extra few bucks to spend on that, i suggest that mouse. Optical is superb user added image, i will never go to ball again.

I use a Logitech optical usb mouse...2 regular buttons and a scrollwheel, which acts as the middle mouse button. Inexpensive and works great!

To add to the Logitech list here, I have 2 Logitech MX700s -- one for my mac and one for my pc. Optical, a bazillion buttons, and cordless. Works flawlessly with Maya and everything else.

The MX700 is great. Tracks fast and smooth. Nice solid design. Feels good in my hands. People with big hands might not like it though. It's kind of narrow in comparison to other mice. But, I have small hands, so they fit just fine. user added image

I also have a logitech optical wheel mouse. 2 buttons and mousewheel. I don't personally like those mouses w/ lots of buttons cause i tend to press them by mistake. All personal preference though. I prefer USB to ps2 just for the higher refresh rate. I'll never go back to a ball mouse again. I hate cleaning those things.

I use the mouse that came with my Wacom Graphics Tablet. I like it better than my Logitech optical. I DO have both of them operational at the same time though.
