Realism - Nem

Hey guys
first comp ive ever entered so dnt be too harsh eh user added image itll be my first proper model as well user added image
I'll hopefully be modelling my guitar (attached pic)

Hey M, i have two questions:
1. is this just for a single model? (ie. guitar) or do i have to model a guitar and its surroundings? cos some people are modelling a scene, but i thought this was just a 3d model competition?

2. if i dont get this finished will i be whipped or anything? because im doing this for fun and experience more than anything, and i have some big exams coming up, so im sorry if i dont finish this thing user added image

anyway, i need those two quesitons answered before i start

thanks!

Hey, just to answer your questions. IF you design the scene around it to make it blend in more and look more real then it will probably add to the effect of the model, so it would help. But yea, not that much, seeing it will be based on the model. I would just suggest putting the guitar on a white bg and that should be just as good as if you modelled it against a wall. Just you know, the model may look more attractive due to reflections if theres surroundings. You have the idea though, its not supposed to be based on a scene.. but on a specific model, so i will judge all the same user added image.

Question #2, This IS just for fun user added image... so you will not be scolded if you dont finish user added image.. if you join a battle in the battle arena, and dont finish.. then you may not be able to compete again seeing that there are only 2 competators and then that defies the purpose of a battle in the first place user added image. Your fine modelling that guitar, cant wait to see the progress.. remember though, its a realism competition, so try your hardest to add the realism to it user added image, even model the wrapped wire on the thicker strings user added image.. lol. Cya.

One of my 1st models in Maya was a Fender Stratocaster and I the scene it is in is actually a table top and a small picker

and I didn't even show the neck - as it was never finished..
