fur to fur shadowing

user added image

i just want to know how to make fur to fur shadowing in maya more realistic? i have tested to make a scene: a sphere and a cone with different fur description, i made a spotlight and activated the fur shadowing, i rendered it and saw that the shadows that was from the fur of the cone to the fur of the sphere is not very visible or let say it is in a shade of lght gray.

thanx

i'm just a newbee and i am interested in your discussion.

the present contains nothing more than the past,
and what is found in the effect was already in the cause.

Change your fur shading attributes under your Spotlight's Attributes from self-shade to shadow mapping. Also, make sure that fur shadows are enabled under the Fur Globals.
