game engine

I know most people make there models in polys and then make them into the tri's for a game engine. but is it possible to use nurbs or even subd's characters and have them used in a game engine. And if you can use them how do you tell the poly count on a subd surface since i think it just tells the number of polys.

AFAIK, there are no game engines out there that directly support NURBS or sub-d's. Everything must be converted to polys before export. Simply put, NURBS and sub-d's are not very efficient for real-time applications.
