Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Casted Hanger

OK... I thought I would start a WIP for this metal part I have to create for work. I'm not very good with MAYA, so i'm hoping I will get some help.

Here's a drawing from Autodesk Inventor.

Were they originally trimmed surfaces?

Also, when you imported it into maya, did you select everything, and REapply the default shding group?
(or ANY shader really...)

Just curioususer added image

I didn't do anything to the import. Didn't know what to do.

Yeha, try selecting everything, and applying a shader to it all at once.

Sometimes, imported things loose connections to shading groups, and look like dead space in the viewports, but after a shading group is assigned to them, they are fine all of a suddenuser added image

When I get all the Parts drawn and Textured, it will be a demonstration video on how this part works.

Hopefully it will come out good.

I gave the main body some texture.

I'm still working on filling all the gaps on the front Nose plate. So it's not textured.
