Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

was toy story made in maya. I know it was rendered with renderman, but......

I would assume so.... I just know Pixar uses really customized version of maya but I dont know for sure if they used ONLY maya...

I believe that Monsters Inc., and Ice Age was made in Maya also.

All of Pixar's animations are done with in-house proprietary software called Marionette, not Maya.

Cool. I knew about mosters inc, but not toy story. I think it most 3d movies could be made easily in maya. But I havent really used any thing else. Besides C++.

renderman is an API (application programming interface) not a renderer. It was rendered with PRMan which is the commercially available software.

just so you know if anyone ever asks you user added image

As is says on A|W site, Ice Age was made in Maya. However, they do use HUGE plug-ins. Its about half plug-in writen just for what they want, and half actual Maya when they are done with it.

.. i was made in mayauser added image... too bad someone didnt render all the way. WHERES MY LEGS! *i need more medication*

on ice age at the end it shows the guys using maya doesnt it? they have some complex hard ware and software though. beyond what most of us could dream to afford.

I almost positive Power animator was even used for toy story one...but I may be wrong

From what I read, they used SGI Octane 2 computers and a lot of them user added image
