Currency Conversion Question

Just a quick question:

If I want to buy something that costs say $50 USD on the Internet. That cost is around £30 GBP. Would I therefore only be paying the company £30. Is that all I’ll be charged?

Yeah, but no but yeah but no....

might need additional for shipping and handling... might have some sort of taxes, too. I don't really know. I'm not that familiar with exporting laws. :p

If you are in the UK and import something from outside, as well as shipping (which can be hefty) you could be liable to pay duty/tax on the item if it is not marked gift and if customs stop it. This site

https://www.hmce.gov.uk/

has some useful information on duty and taxes on imports. Customs don't stop everything but if they do the charges can mount up.

You may also pay a credit card exchange rate transaction, but the site will normally say whether they levy that onto you or not.
