File > Save > Options. Check Incremental Save. It'll save every now and then. Not as precise as stating a time, but better than losing everything.

Mike, are you sure that's automatic? I thought incremental save just created scene backups from each point you saved at but you still had to manually save?

No biggie. According to the help docs you do still have to manually save....I can see it being quite useful on larger, complex projects, especially if one's just starting out. I tend to just "save as..." when doing any major things that I might regret later. user added image

incremental save basically saves your scene as different files everytime you hit save only with diff file names, like, first save its called
scene.mb
then when you hit save again it saves ANOTHER file called
scene02.mb
etc
etc

it just lets you go back to a point in time where you can redo something a diff way

I've used incremental save and it's really good! it's like a really good Undo user added image

but about the AutoSave... that gave me an idea to try and write my own AutoSave MEL script ..

it'll be a while as I just lost 100GB of stuff when my HDD died a few hours ago but ...but... I dont wanna talk about it!!! user added image (I posted it in the lounge)
