Weighting vertices

So I'm learning how to rig in Maya, and I've figured out the painting wieghts feature, but a while back someone showed me a way to open a spread sheet like interface where you could see each vertex and it's wieght to each bone.

Did I imagine this or was it real? Where was it?

Thanks,
-dann

Hey dann.. this is the UV texture editor.. i would think. But it seems like you would know about that already. Sorry if im wrong, user added image. I have done some work in paintweights as well.. but never seen it layed out.. maybe open the UV texture editor.. while your in paint weight mode... just an idea.

Sorry Matt, but I realy dont think this is what hes talking about. What he is descibing sounds WAY different. Mabey the Graph Editor? It controls aniations, and would there for be used for rigging. Not sure though. I dont know much of anything about weight. I think a pro would be able to help ya out.

It's the Component Editor (Window > General Editors > Component Editor).

That looks like it Danny, thanks.

However, I don't see any of the weighted values. How do I load them in? I've tried secting the joints as well as the poly object, but apparently that's not it.

Any instruction would be helpful.

Thanks again.

Select the vertices you want to edit then they'll show up in the Smooth Skin tab of the Component Editor.
