rounded edges without smooth?

Hi

I am Trying to figure out a way to make rounded edges in polys without using the smooth poly function.

The idea is I want to be able to model and have some nice flat poly surfaces with smooth rounded like edges I have been playing with the chamfering but haven't found a solution yet... is there a way to achieve this?

Thanks Grayth

Try selecting the edge, and then use Edit Polygons > Bevel with your segments set to more than 3.

Yeah, the best way, using the fewest polys would be to bevel the edges, then smooth the normals.

Thanks I'll play with it some more...the only thing I noticed is some of the adjoinging faces get some messed up shading changes due to the extra vert counts..

Have you tried Subd's?

I tried to aviod them, for lack of understanding,
but after I learned it, I'll never go back!

The power of nurbs, with the ease of use of polys.
