Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

New tut idea. want opions first

Hi SM'ers, just wanted to get your opion of a tut im thinking of doing. I was thinking of making a tut modeling some kind of animal from the real world instead of fantasy characters like the dragon.

What im leaning towards is some type of Ape, either modern apes like orangutangs, or ancesters like australopithecus. This would be good not only for something a bit different to model but its close enough to human modeling to use the same techniques.

I can also dive into uv lay out, texturing and possibly some fur work. Depending on how many parts it would end up being.

So let me know if you all would be interested in a tut on this subject matter.

Talk soon

Some fur would be cool. I my self thought would more like to see someones method of madeling a normal 4 legged animal. But that is just me.
I do think though the hole idea rocks, as is.

This would be very interesting Kurt, having a Fur part would be awesome. As a suggestion, would perhaps maybe when you are done..giving the model to someone else to do a animation tutorial or compositing tutorial..?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I wanted to model some kind of chimp too (at least the head), and have already collected a trainload full of reference images.

Go on!

Sounds very jolly. Like Pony I would also like to see something on quadropeds eventually but doing a humanoid type will be very useful too. I like the idea of having it follow through into texturing and rigging and things. And fur would be great. Cool.

That would be cool, Kurt. Kari and I were talking yesterday about LotR stuff and how a lot of the famous tolkien painters (alan lee, John Howe, Ted Nasmith, et al) use ape-ish faces for the orcs and uruk-hais in their paintings. Add some ram horns and wings and you have a balrog. Whatever happened with your pyro guy, anyway?
